What do I need to get online with OPENSKY™?

  • A suitable PC

A Pentium III 500MHz multimedia PC running Windows 98SE OSR2 or better (depending on device driver availability) with either a spare PCI slot or USB port or Ethernet port (depending on device choice).

  • A DVB-IP data receiver

We supply two models of data receiver: both from the experienced satellite receiver manufacturer, Manhattan.

  • Manhattan DVB-IP1000 USB Data Receiver
  • Manhattan BSM 2 Broadband Satellite Modem

For more details, please see the Receiver Options page.

OPENSKY™ is DVB compliant and therefore any properly DVB compliant IP device should, in theory, be compatible with the OPENSKY™ service. It is the manufacturer's responsibility to ensure their devices are properly compliant and compatible.

  • A dish aligned on eBird at 33 degrees East

We offer a range of dish options from the single dish / LNB aligned on 33E through to Sky-compatible multi-feed dishes if you have several Sky receivers or even Sky+. Any Eurosat BeyonDSL dealer will be able to give you advice and options suitable for your install. They can even install Sky at the same time if that's what you want.

  • An Internet Access method

OPENSKY™ is an overlay system which adds satellite download speeds to your existing access method. You therefore need to have such an existing access method.

If you are based in the UK, we offer a number of Internet Access methods starting from subscription-free Pay As You Go dial-up through to flat-rate ISDN. More details here.
