two-way satellite broadband

Why Use Satellite for the Internet?Slow speed is the main concern for users and content providers alike. Without broadband access, the internet experience will remain slow, jerky and unsatisfying. To make the internet a slick and enjoyable multimedia experience, download speeds will have to increase radically. And there's a problem. Geography. It's easy enough to get broadband in cities but what happens if your house is one of the 50% of the UK outside a cable franchise? Or if it's too far away from the exchange for ADSL? And that, of course, is even if they have enough capacity in the exchange or enough local demand to upgrade it. Don't panic. (a massively useful phrase - thanks, DNA) There is a technology which can deliver broadband wherever you are. IP/DVB via Satellite: available today as the OPENSKY™ service from BeyonDSL. It is: Fast

It is an asymmetric data delivery system: low bandwidth from the user to ISP and high bandwidth from ISP to user. This matches extremely well the asymmetric nature of the vast majority of internet use: a few kilobits sent and many megabits received. The infrastructure and operating costs are concentrated on where they are most needed - it is cost effective for ISP's and users as well as being fast and efficient. |
