Manhattan DVB-IP 1000 Quick Start Guide

USB DVB Satellite Data Receiver

The Manhattan DVB-IP 1000 receives broadband data from satellite to give you Super Fast Broadband Access with your existing terrestrial Internet connection.

ü        Digital DVB receiver for high-performance broadband satellite data reception.

ü        Reception and presentation of DVB data service for high-speed multicast and internet access.

ü        USB interface for most notebooks and PCs.

ü        Compatible with the OPENSKY service from Eurosat BeyonDSL.

ü        Uses OPENSKY Client 1.5.1,  OS Control and OS Transponder Hopping for enhanced ease of use.

Suitable for use with the Eurosat BeyonDSL Broadband via Satellite Service.

This installation should take around 10 - 15 minutes to complete.

Dish Installation

Your Eurosat BeyonDSL Dealer will install the correct size dish and lay the LNB cable to where you want your Manhattan USB Receiver. This position should be indoors in the dry away from extremes of temperature or humidity. Obviously it should be next to your PC and a spare mains power outlet.

Once the Installer has demonstrated that the cable is delivering a good signal and you have signed off the installation, you can now proceed to install the Manhattan USB to your PC and install the OPENSKY Client.

Installing Your Manhattan DVB-IP 1000

You will need:

These instructions

Your Manhattan DVB-IP 1000 receiver and the supplied Mains Power adaptor·

The USB cable supplied

The Eurosat BeyonDSL Startup CD ROM supplied

You may also require your original Windows CD

Operating System

Your PC should be using one of the following operating systems:

Microsoft™ Windows™ NT4, ME, 2000, XP Home, XP Pro

Your Manhattan receiver will also work with Windows 98SE OSR2 or later.

Installation will NOT work with Windows operating systems earlier than Windows 98, 95 etc as these do not support USB fully or at all.

Remove Previous Satellite Hardware, Drivers and Software

IF you have previously installed a satellite data receiver (whether USB or PCI) from any other manufacturer, you MUST remove the drivers and software fully BEFORE installing this device.

Firewall & Anti-Virus

For your security, you should have effective anti-virus and firewall software.

If you have a firewall, you will probably need to configure it once OPENSKY has been installed to allow the OPENSKY Client and its components to operate correctly. Method varies depending on the firewall.

You may need to turn off your virus protection during installation.

Installation Procedure

Please follow these instructions in the right order.Doing things in the wrong order will cause the installation to fail and cause you frustration.

Print out these instructions if you don't already have a paper copy.

Using the Start Menu, turn off (shut down) your PC.

Connect your Manhattan receiver to the LNB cable from your satellite dish.

DO NOT FORCE or OVERTIGHTEN the connector. The central copper conductor should fit into the socket on the receiver and the outer sleeve should screw onto the socket's thread. Finger tight is sufficient.

DO NOT CONNECT the Mains Power Adaptor at this stage

Connect your Manhattan USB receiver to your PC with the supplied USB cable to an available USB port.

DO NOT FORCE the connector if it does not fit - it will fit easily if it is correctly oriented.

Start your PC.

Close any running programs such as e-mail, internet browser etc.

Insert the enclosed Eurosat BeyonDSL Startup CD in your PC's CD drive.

You can ignore the welcome screen and close the browser window at this stage

NOW connect the Mains Power Adaptor to your Manhattan USB Receiver

The green LED on the front panel should illuminate.

After a short pause, your PC will recognise the new device and start the "New Device Found" Hardware Wizard. Follow the instructions on the screen.

If it asks for the location of the drivers, ensure the "CD" option is selected in the search options list.

If the Wizard asks you if you wish to install an unsigned driver, click the "yes" option.

The initial installation will proceed automatically.

When prompted, click on Finish.

After a short pause, your PC will recognise a new device (again) and start the "New Device Found" Wizard again.

If it asks for the location of the drivers, ensure the "CD" option is selected in the search options list.·

If the Wizard asks you if you wish to install an unsigned driver, click the "yes" option.

The second installation will proceed automatically.

When prompted, click on Finish.

NOW REMOVE THE CD AND RESTART YOUR PC

When your PC has restarted successfully, insert the Eurosat BeyonDSL Startup CD in your PC's CD drive. It will autorun to bring up the first page in your browser. If not, then double-click on the AutorunCD.exe file on the CD. Read the Important Notes on the first page, then click on Go to next page >>

The CD includes the OPENSKY Client and the BeyonDSL OPENSKY Startup Guide. Please printout and read the Startup Guide: in particular Step 2.2 on page 6 about the OPENSKY installation process.

Familiarise yourself with the CD contents. This is where you will find the instructions to install OPENSKY and run OSWizard to register.

Please note you must have a BeyonDSL Opensky Account to register. You can get one here.

THEN REMOVE THE CD AND RESTART YOUR PC ONCE MORE.

OPENSKY and your Manhattan USB Receiver should now be correctly installed on your PC. Please refer to the Startup Guide for detailed setup information and instructions to get the most from your OPENSKY Broadband Satellite Service. You should read it from the beginning but you have by now reached Step 2 on page 6.
